Róisín McBrinn

  • Róisín McBrinn is the artistic director and Co-CEO of The Gate Theatre in Dublin.

  • She is one of Ireland and the UK’s most influential theatre directors and cultural leaders, with a career spanning critically acclaimed productions, international recognition, and transformational leadership roles in the arts.

  • Previously, served as Artistic Director and CEO of Clean Break Theatre Company in London (2018–2022), a pioneering organisation dedicated to transforming the lives of women impacted by the criminal justice system.

  • Her directing credits span leading theatres including The Gate Theatre, National Theatre (UK), Abbey Theatre, and The Royal Shakespeare Company.

  • Róisín’s work has been recognised with prestigious honours including the Quercus Award (National Theatre UK) and the Young Vic Jerwood Young Directors’ Award, alongside nominations for the Irish Times Theatre Awards and UK Theatre Best Director Award.

  • She recently directed an adaptation of Poor authored by Katriona O’Sullivan (Katriona spoke at EWG in 2025).
